Why It Works

Know Your Eyes

Your eyes are controlled by 6 extraocular muscles (superior/inferior/medial/lateral rectus, superior/inferior oblique) for direction, and the ciliary muscle for focus. Smooth pursuit targets muscle coordination, focus shift targets the ciliary muscle, and eye rotation moves all 6 muscles through their full range.

Daily Eye Care Habits

Eye care professionals generally suggest regular eye movement breaks after prolonged close-up screen work. A few minutes at a time, several times a day, suits daily routines better than long single sessions.

About Eye Fatigue

During extended screen time, blink rate tends to decrease and the ciliary muscle stays in a tense state. The 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds) is a commonly recommended eye rest practice by eye care professionals.
