What Is Smooth Pursuit Training?
Smooth pursuit is the natural eye movement you use when tracking a moving object. When you watch a bird fly across the sky or follow a tennis ball during a match, your eyes are performing smooth pursuit movements.
Why Train Your Smooth Pursuit Ability?
Staring at screens for long periods makes the muscles that control eye movement stiff. Just like sitting all day makes your leg muscles tight, your eye muscles need movement and exercise too.
Smooth pursuit training can help:
- Reduce eye strain — Give your eye muscles a chance to move and relax
- Improve tracking — Make your eyes follow moving objects more smoothly
- Better coordination — Strengthen the teamwork between both eyes
How to Do Smooth Pursuit Training
The simplest method is to follow a moving target. Our training tool provides a glowing orb that moves along different paths:
- Figure 8 — Covers eye movement in all directions
- Circle — Smooth 360-degree tracking
- Horizontal — Left-right tracking, the most basic exercise
- Vertical — Up-down tracking, exercising less-used muscles
Training Tips
- 1-3 minutes per session is enough
- Move only your eyes, not your head
- Breathe naturally, stay relaxed
- Stop immediately if you feel discomfort
- Once or twice daily works best
Important Note
Smooth pursuit training is a wellness exercise, not a medical treatment. If you have vision problems, please consult an eye care professional first.
